The Louisville Zoo is proud to have been nominated for two awards as part of USA Today’s “10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.” The Zoo is nominated as Best Zoo in the United States and the Glacier Run exhibit as the best zoo exhibit in the United States. Voting has begun and continues through Monday, March 4 at 11:59 a.m. EST. The rules allow the public to vote online for one nominee per category, per day. The USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlight top-notch attractions and businesses, providing readers with trusted recommendations. Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant expert contributors; and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties.
The Zoo was nominated for Best Zoo in the same awards in 2014 and placed no. 12. Glacier Run won Top Honors by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) exhibit award in 2012.
The Zoo is among nominees like the Audubon Zoo, the Central Park Zoo, the Cincinnati Zoo, the Honolulu Zoo and the San Diego Zoo.
The Zoo is open daily year-round. Fall/winter hours are 10 a.m. ─ 4 p.m. (stay until 5 p.m.). The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Visit louisvillezoo.org for more info.
