The Louisville Zoo offers a wide variety of programs for people of all ages including Night Safaris, PreSchool programs, seasonal camps and more! Kids as well as adults will enjoy these wildlife adventures that truly make learning fun! These programs require advance registration.

Docents (volunteer teachers) assist the Louisville Zoo Education Department in teaching classes to school groups, sharing information with Zoo visitors, reaching out to our community through outreach programs.

In Spring 2020 we will introduce a new program for high school students interested in learning more about careers in zoological, veterinary, and environmental sciences, as well as other related fields.
A Backyard Action Hero (BAH) is a kid who is really into wildlife and habitats and is ready to take action to help protect those in his/her own backyard and in other parts of the world! Each year, the Louisville Zoo produces a colorful and fascinating guidebook to help kids became true Backyard Action Heroes. This 2019-2020 BAH guidebook will be called “Unique Animals: Structures, Functions and Environments” and features the special physical characteristics of species you can find at the Louisville Zoo. Backyard Action Hero is presented by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc.
