The Zoo’s Education Department is staffed by professional educators who provide “hands-on”, “minds-on” experiences that are engaging as well as scientifically accurate. Adding an Education Program to your School Field Trip is the best option for your class. These programs are very popular and reservations should be made early.

A Backyard Action Hero (BAH) is a kid who is really into wildlife and habitats and is ready to take action to help protect them. A BAH cares about the animals and plants in his/her own backyard and in other parts of the world! Each year, the Louisville Zoo produces a colorful and fascinating guidebook to help kids became true Backyard Action Heroes. This 2016-2017 BAH guidebook features City Ecosystems and is presented by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc.
