Louisville Zoo Job Fair
January 25

The Louisville Zoo will host a job fair on January 25 in the Islands Pavilion Gheens Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Zoo is seeking outgoing, highly motivated individuals who enjoy working with the public to fill seasonal positions in various departments. Positions are available in Admissions, Animal Dept.,  Education, Guest Services, Horticulture, Marketing, Membership, Front Desk and Rides & Attractions. Candidates will receive training in their area.

 

Animal Department

Zoo Service Assistant — One year of college with a declared major in Biology or closely related field and one year of working with animals in an institutional setting. Assist area animal keepers with duties to help facilitate the occurrence of regularly scheduled animal presentations.

Education

Education Instructor — One year of college seeking a degree in elementary or secondary education, one year of experience working with children in formal or informal teaching setting (school, day camp, zoo or other cultural attraction) and background knowledge of biology, ecology or related field. Must be able to handle small exotic animals for educational purposes, have good communication/teaching skills, be willing to be First Aid/CPR certified and work a varied part-time schedule. Education positions start at $20.24 hourly.

Guest Services

Zoo Service Worker — Various duties including: cleaning, ticket scanning, welcoming guests, interacting with guests and answering questions, safety and security, attendant for seasonal attractions and assisting with crowd and traffic control. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Varied schedule availability.

Rides Operator – Operates trams, carousel, cart shuttles and Ropes Course; will also maintain cleanliness and inspections of all attractions. Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years old, with Tram driver position also requiring a valid driver’s license.

Splash Park Attendant — Crowd control, water quality testing, public safety and maintain cleanliness of the park. Must be CPR/First Aid Certified. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Splash Park SupervisorOversees daily operation of the splash park including direct supervision of the splash park staff, performing water quality testing and maintenance, and interacting with staff and guests. Reports to the Guest Service Supervisor. Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification (provided by the Zoo). Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Previous supervisory and/or water quality experience preferred. Splash Park Supervisor starts at $19.27.

Horticulture 

Zoo Aide — Grass cutting, mulching, trimming and grounds maintenance. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.  Horticulture positions start at $17.48 hourly.

Membership, Marketing, Front Desk & Admissions

Zoo Service Clerk — All areas include basic computer operating skills and guest interaction. Some areas will require experience working with money, balancing a cash drawer, operating a multi-line switchboard and making PA announcements and radio announcements. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Marketing Seasonal  (Webmaster) — Candidates must have experience working in WordPress creating and editing pages, posts and menus. Basic HTML, CSS and SEO knowledge is preferred, as well as experience in content management and familiarity with Adobe graphic design software.  Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Marketing positions start at $20.24 hourly.

Minimum wage is $16.65 hourly (unless specified above).

  • Seeking candidates with primarily daytime availability
  • Must be flexible to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Some jobs require a valid driver’s license
  • Some positions require CPR/First Aid Certification, which is provided by the Zoo

Uniforms

Uniform Shirts are provided by the Zoo; however uniform pants and/or shorts must be purchased at your expense before date of employment.
