Toucan Species Makes a Colorful Debut at the Louisville Zoo (Media Release)

The Louisville Zoo is happy to announce its newest addition is a toco toucan named Lucy — marking the debut of a species never before seen at the Zoo. The nearly 7-year-old bird brings her colorful bill to the Louisville Zoo from the Saint Louis Zoo. Lucy can be seen in the newly renovated exhibit across from the jaguar habitat. She will share her new home in rotation with the Zoo’s hyacinth macaws.  Find Out More

Celebrate International Flamingo Day with a “Pink Out” on April 26 (Media Release)

The Louisville Zoo is happy to announce that, with the recent addition of 49 Chilean flamingos, it is now hosting the largest Chilean flock in North America. The Zoo’s Chilean flamingo flock, also called a “flamboyance,” will feature an impressive 89 birds (up from 38). An additional two flamingos are expected to arrive soon. Find Out More

Zoo Breaks Ground on Project Supporting Animal Ambassador Expansion (Media Release)

Today, officials from the Louisville Zoo broke ground on a project that will support the growth and development of its Animal Ambassador Program.  Mayor Greenberg joined Louisville Zoo Director Dan Maloney, Deputy Mayor Nicole George, Zoo Foundation Board Chair Becky Phillips, members of the Future Healers Got Zoo Buddies program, Councilman Mulvihill’s Legislative aide Geoff Wohl, former Zoo Director John Walczak, and donors to break ground on the Zoo’s latest construction project.
