Zoo Animals Celebrate Halloween with Pumpkins

WHAT | The lions, bears, orangutans, elephants and others at the Louisville Zoo will be celebrating Halloween tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 31) with a special pumpkin enrichment. We just wrapped up “The World’s Largest Halloween Party!” presented by Meijer and the hundreds of pumpkins that decorated the grounds for the Party will be given to the animals. Animal enrichment is an important part of animal husbandry at the Louisville Zoo and promotes the expression of natural behavior.

WHEN | Friday, October 31 starting at 10:30 a.m.

10:30 a.m.  Orangutans (Islands Dayroom)

11 a.m.       Elephants

Noon          Tigers (Tiger Tundra)

1:30 p.m.    Bears (Glacier Run)

2 p.m.        Gorillas (Gorilla Forest)

2:30 p.m.    Lions
