The Louisville Zoo’s is home to two different species of tigers: the Amur tigers in Tiger Taiga and the Sumatran tigers in the Islands.

Amur Tigers

Timmy

Timmy was born on July 13, 2017 and arrived at the Louisville Zoo in 2023 from Potter Park Zoo in Michigan. He is on rotation in the Tiger Taiga with female Amur tiger, Sasha. He is very interactive with his varied enrichment and with keepers in general. His keepers say that he seems to have an affinity for goat’s milk and a calm demeanor.

Sasha

Sasha, our female Amur tiger, was born on June 24, 2012 at the Peoria Zoo in Illinois. She arrived at the Louisville Zoo on December 19, 2019. Like our male tiger, Timmy, she is very interactive with her keepers and regularly participates in training sessions. She is a very vocal cat and weighs approximately 290 pounds, which is an average size for a female amur tiger.
