|  HOME TICKETS  |  VOLUNTEER  FAQ  |   CONTACT  |

The Friends of the Louisville Zoo is seeking volunteers to help in various capacities.  Please view the information below. If you would like to volunteer please contact FriendsOfTheLouisvilleZoo@gmail.com.

What do Zoofari volunteers do?

Event volunteers assist in a number of ways, from setting up the night before to clean-up the day after. Your specific tasks will be determined by our Volunteer Chair and based on your time shift.

Volunteer shifts are available during the following times:

  • Thursday, June 6: Set up activities; various shifts available between 4 – 10 p.m.
  • Friday, June 7: Set up activities and event specific responsiblities in shifts 9 a.m. – 12 a.m.
  • Saturday, June 8: Clean up from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Our volunteer shifts are four(4) hours long. Please contact Friends of the Louisville Zoo at FriendsOfTheLouisvilleZoo@gmail.com to sign up.

What are my responsibilities as a volunteer?

Your specific responsibilities will depend on your shift.

If you assist in set-up or tear-down, it is important to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. You will likely be carrying items in and out of event areas. You may be asked to assist in setting up or taking down tables, chairs, signs, etc.

During the event, volunteers are assigned a specific area and task which may include checking guests in for the event, silent auction support, directional assistance, live auction aid, or coordinate the distribution of late nght bites. If you are a volunteer during the event please plan on wearing black-tie optional attire.

Why should I volunteer?

It would not be possible to put on an event the magnitude of Zoofari without help from dedicated and caring community members. The proceeds raised from Zoofari directly support the enhancement and expansion of the Louisville Zoo. Many of the award-winning projects at the Zoo including Glacier Run, Gorilla Forest, Sloth Exhibit, and Snow Leopard Pass have benefited from the success of Zoofari.

Our Volunteer Chair will be in touch about other benefits from volunteering at Zoofari.

When would volunteers be most helpful?

Volunteers are needed in the days leading up to the event, day-of and the day after. With new VIP opportunities following the dinner and program this year, additional volunteer support late in the evening would be welcomed. Volunteers would help at silent auction check-out, assist VIP tent hosts, and coordinate late night bite distribution, etc.

In addition to Zoofari, are there other Friends of the Louisville Zoo events I can consider?

Yes! In fact, volunteers who sign up for a late-nite shift at Zoofari will get a favorable voluteer shift placement during Brew at the Zoo and Wine and Food Too this year! Details about Brew at the Zoo will be announced soon. Please contact us at FriendsOfTheLouisvilleZoo@gmail.com to sign up to volunteer for both events.

AUCTION

Our live auction happens the night of the event and will feature unique items and experiences and animal adoptions.

If you would like more info or wish to donate to our silent auction, please contact us at FriendsOfTheLouisvilleZoo@gmail.com.

ANIMAL ADOPTIONS

Our live auction happens the night of the event and will feature unique items and experiences, including exclusive animal adoptions.

DONATE

This event would not be possible without generous support from dedicated community members and businesses. All proceeds from Zoofari go directly toward benefiting the Zoo’s projects and their superior work to “better the bond between people and our planet” through conserving species, caring for animals and educating the community, while helping families make special memories.
