Non-Profit Organizational Memberships

The Louisville Zoo is pleased to offer a special membership program to provide convenience and affordability to non-profit organizations who regularly bring clients to the Louisville Zoo. For $375, a Non-Profit Membership will cover up to 5 staff members and 10 clients per visit.  Louisville and surrounding area non-profit organizations may apply for a Non-Profit Membership to be used for clients under their care.

What Organizations May Qualify for a Non-Profit Membership?

Non-Profit Memberships are available to non-profit agencies meeting eligibility requirements. The Louisville Zoo reserves the sole right to determine eligibility for membership and may choose to offer or deny based on criteria outside the desired qualifications listed below:

  • Organizations must be designated as 501(c)(3) by the IRS
  • Organizations must provide a service to clients under their care
  • Organizations must be located in one of the following counties:
    • Bullitt County, KY
    • Henry County, KY
    • Jefferson County, KY
    • Oldham County, KY
    • Shelby County, KY
    • Spencer County, KY
    • Trimble County, KY
    • Clark County, IN
    • Floyd County, IN
    • Harrison County, IN
    • Washington County, IN

Public and private schools, summer camps, and after-school programs are not eligible to receive Non-Profit Memberships.

A letter indicating non-profit status by the IRS must accompany this application. The memberships are not for personal use by non-profit employees, board members or volunteers.

How Does an Organization Apply for a Non-Profit Membership?

To apply for a Non-Profit Membership to the Louisville Zoo, an organization must complete and submit the online application below. Please allow at least 5 business days to process your application and receive a response. The Louisville Zoo will review all submitted applications and respond via email only to clarify any details and with confirmation of approval or denial. The Louisville Zoo will not ask for any payment information via email.

If approved, we will contact you via email and/or by phone to arrange for payment. The Louisville Zoo accepts most major credit cards, cash or check. Your account will be created and become active upon receipt of payment in full ($375).  The account will be created under the name of the person indicated as the primary contact in the form below.

How Does a Non-Profit Membership Work?

A Non-Profit Membership is intended for use by a single location within an organization and is for the sole use of its clientele and staff as an extension of the organization. If a nonprofit organization has more than one location, a separate membership is required for each location. Non-Profit Memberships are not for personal use and should not be shared with employees, family or friends for personal use or gain.  Up to 5 staff members and 10 clients can be admitted per visit.  Staff will be required to present proof of representation of the organization and the membership card provided in order to be admitted. We will provide five (5) cards with the name of the organization and the generic title of staff on each.  If a card is lost or stolen there is a $5 fee to have the old number canceled and a new card issued.

Memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. Those attending the Louisville Zoo must follow all rules and guidelines. Memberships may be cancelled without a refund due to misuse or misconduct at the Zoo.  Non-Profit Memberships do not qualify for reciprocity.
