The Louisville Zoo, in partnership with LG&E and KU Foundation, invites families and individuals to join Kids in Action, a initiative created just for students and part of the Zoo’s Earth Month Celebration.
Kids in Action encourages participants to design conservation projects for the benefit of their own community. The program helps gives students a platform to share these projects with conservation minded individuals across the region.
Once you’ve decided on a project, register it here.

Four-year-old preschooler Elisa Clark from the Primrose School, with the guidance of her mother, organized a stream cleanup to help save salamanders. They removed metal, rubber tires, plastic, ceramic, and glass trash from the stream near their home. Additionally, they decided not to use chemicals on the land near the stream and pond to protect the salamanders.
Third grade homeschool student Carly Neel has crafted a charming bug hotel using natural supplies like pinecones, sticks, and leaves, along with recyclable materials such as boxes and toilet paper tubes. Inspired by her love for all living things, Rachel wanted to create a cozy haven for bugs.
