Join us at the Louisville Zoo as we celebrate the first annual International Maned Wolf Day! This unique mammal is neither fox nor wolf, but is the largest canid in South America. Maned wolves are listed as “Near Threatened” by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to habitat loss and hunting.

What’s that smell? Did you know maned wolves mark their territory with powerful-smelling urine? They do not howl, but may emit loud barks.
