To celebrate turning 50 this year the Zoo is throwing a party! 50Fest is May 18-19 at the Zoo.

The Zoo’s two newest mascots — Leroy the rhino, in honor of one of the Zoo’s first rhinos named Leroy, and Miles the giraffe — will be on hand along with other animal mascots.

Guests will be invited to help the Zoo commemorate the occasion with a community photo mural (additional fee of $5). Proceeds go to help support animal care and conservation at the Louisville Zoo.

Guests can experience seeing their favorite animal ambassadors get in on the fun with special anniversary animal enrichment while they enjoy fun Zoo games.

Also supporting this Zoo celebration, Louisville Water Company will have a hydration station at the front entrance with giveaways; Great Clips will have giveaways and samples at their tent on the Main Plaza; and Teddy Grahams is providing a fun Zoo scavenger hunt at the admission gate along with free snacks near the maned wolf exhibit while supplies last. Guests will also be invited to try a free sample of Dippin’ Dots special debut “Zoo Birthday Bash” flavor while supplies last.

Zoo and history fans can also visit the Zoo’s new micro site and take a stroll through time to see what was happening at their Zoo, in their community and world through the last 50 years. Visit louisvillezoo.org/50years for a trip through time and more information about 50Fest and other anniversary fun coming this year!

50Fest is brought to you by Whittenburg Construction, Louisville Metro Council with additional support by Teddy Grahams, Great Clips, Louisville Water Company and Dippin’ Dots.
