The Louisville Zoo is excited to offer a drop-in upcycle program for all ages on December 22, 23, 29 and 30 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. in the recently reopened MetaZoo Discovery Center. This is an opportunity to turn old items into new things that are fun for family pets or local wildlife!  Guests who are decluttering around the holidays may bring items from home or use materials provided by the Zoo to create enrichment toys for pets and helpful items for North American songbirds.

Examples of upcycled creations could include:

·         Snuffle mats (puzzle toys with fabric strips or pockets)

·         Cat toys

·         Bird feeders and more.

The holiday upcycling is free with Zoo admission or membership.

Zoo Hours

The Zoo is open daily year-round. Now through March 20, 2026, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with guests exiting by 5 p.m. The Zoo is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Visit louisvillezoo.org for more information.
