Kevin Woodward’s Story
Today, Ashley and I have seven children, all age 14 and under. We’re watching them create their own Zoo memories. They each have their favorite animals and exhibits, but what I love most is seeing their faces light up—whether they’re riding the carousel, spotting a newborn animal, or pressing close to the glass in awe. Seeing the Zoo through their eyes has been one of the greatest joys of parenthood.
Throughout my life, the Louisville Zoo has been a place I return to again and again. It’s a place to encounter wildlife, slow down, and appreciate the world around us. Where else can you see a newborn giraffe, be dazzled by Wild Lights, enjoy a summer evening with the Louisville Orchestra, watch kids meet their favorite characters at Boo at the Zoo, or come face to face with a powerful and awe inspiring gorilla?
The Zoo is important. Two years ago, I joined the Louisville Zoo Foundation Board of Directors because I wanted to support a community treasure that has meant so much to me and my family. I’m proud of what the Zoo has accomplished and excited about what lies ahead. Ashley and I support the Louisville Zoo because we want to ensure that every child in our community can create happy, meaningful memories here — just as we have.
