The Louisville Zoo education department was happy to welcome Goldsmith Elementary to their first day of School at the Zoo on December 5th. The students were divided into two groups and are being taught this week by our educators: Wanda & Kathleen.
Both groups focused on the structures of animals and how those structures function to help animals survive in their habitats. In class both groups observed a hedgehog and millipede close up. They also observed and learned about raptors, or birds of prey.
The students took a walk to the Islands exhibit today where they saw fruit bats, many species of birds, and our orangutans.
In class, the students got up close with some Madagascar hissing cockroaches and discussed their structures for survival within small groups.
