Party for the Planet 2023: A Month-Long Celebration of the Earth

One day isn’t enough to celebrate the wonder of our planet and promote the need to protect it — so the Louisville Zoo is hosting a month-long party. During the month of April, enjoy special weekend activities and videos, PLUS there will be special admission discounts powered by our friends at LG&E and KU Foundation!

Bring your old eyeglasses and cell phones for recycling through partners Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation and Eco-Cell.

Saturday:
8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Recycle electronics with Technology Conservation group. Electronics accepted: desktop computers, laptops, docking stations, keyboards, mouse, MP3 players, scanners, printers, cables, external hard drives, flash drives, CDs, modems and routers. Not accepted: TVs, monitors and hard drives.
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Recycle shoes with Waterstep
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Recycle cell phones and tablets through Eco-Cell!

Community eco-partners will be featured throughout the Zoo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come join the fun and learn what you can do to help save our planet! Discount available at Zoo windows only and cannot be applied to online purchases.

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Earth Day Celebration at the Louisville Zoo. This festival is a culmination of the many conservation, recycling, and education events celebrated during Earth Month, powered by our friends at LG&E and KU Foundation.

Please read the event description and participation guidelines before completing the application.

Exhibitor Guidelines:

  • All set up must be complete before 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 30. Exhibitors may begin setting up at 9 a.m.. If additional time is required, arrangements must be made in advance by calling (502) 238-5362.
  • Please plan to transport your own materials from the parking lot to your booth. No vehicles will be permitted on Zoo grounds. If you are unable to transport all of your materials to your booth and require assistance, arrangements must be made in advance by calling (502) 238-5362. Due to the number of exhibitors, we are unfortunately not able to accommodate all transportation requests.
  • Booth locations are assigned in advance, and cannot be relocated the morning of the event.
  • Exhibitors are responsible for providing their own extension cords.
  • Exhibitors may not attach any materials to any permanent Zoo buildings, trees, fences, lights, etc. Exceptions may be made for organizational banners, hung using twine.
  • Food and beverages are available for purchase at Zoo concession stands throughout the day. You are welcome to bring your own cooler and beverages. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
  • Signs and banners at your booth or table should reflect the spirit of Earth Day.
  • Exhibitors should strive to be as trash free as possible and are responsible for disposing of/or removing their own trash. The Zoo utilizes a Wet/Dry recycling program, there’s no need to search out special recycling bins!
  • In the spirit of Earth Day, we discourage excessive paper giveaways. The Louisville Zoo must approve in advance of the event any item that you plan to distribute during the Earth Day Celebration. Please provide a description of any item you wish to give away with your application.
  • No retail sales or collection of donations will be permitted.
  • Please note: NO BALLOONS are permitted on Zoo premises.
