Overview
- Field trip rates are only available Monday – Friday.
- All field trips are self-guided.
- All field trips require at least 10 students and a ratio of one adult per 10 students.
- One adult chaperone per 10 students is required and admitted at no charge.
- There is no parking charge for those with your group.
- Memberships are not valid for and cannot be used for field trips.
- There are no refunds for field trips.
- Payment can only be made when you arrive.
- We do not have places to store lunches.
- We do not have any education programs for field trips yet, but check back next year!
Important 2025 – 2026 School Updates
- The Zoo no longer requires schools to provide an expected number of chaperones attending with the school. Designated chaperones will be automatically added to school reservations at a rate of 1 free chaperone for every 10 students.
- Adults planning to participate in a field trip that are not designated as chaperones (above the 1:10 ratio) will be sent to the ticket window to purchase a school rate ticket.
- School rate tickets must be purchased at the ticket window on the day of the trip. You can pay only for students present on the day of the trip.

Reservations are now available! If you have questions about our field trip program, please email us at zooeducation@louisvilleky.gov.
- Registered field trips are $13 per student.
- The Zoo will apply FREE admission tickets to use for designated chaperones at a ratio of 1 free chaperone for every 10 students registered. All other adults assisting with the field trip will pay the school rate ticket price of $16 and should not be included in your field trip numbers.
- We will not update your numbers before your trip. You can change your numbers at the ticket windows when you arrive. DO NOT PUT IN A NEW REQUEST FOR THE SAME TRIP WITH UPDATED NUMBERS. THAT REQUEST WILL NOT BE HONORED.
- We are unable to refund excess payments; please make sure the payment matches how many people you bring. If the amount of the payment exceeds the actual attendance, all remaining funds will be converted to a donation to the zoo.
- Payment must be made in one transaction but may be split between multiple forms of payment.
- The Zoo DOES NOT ACCEPT PURCHASE ORDERS.

For Walk Up Field Trips

- Walk-up field trips are $16 per person (students and adults).
- All payments must be made upon arrival at the ticket windows.
- One adult chaperones per 10 students is required and admitted at no charge.
- You will not receive an invoice.
- You will get a receipt.
- There is no parking charge for those with your group.
- The Zoo DOES NOT ACCEPT PURCHASE ORDERS.
- Memberships are not valid for and cannot be used for field trips.

- If you are a home school group with fewer than 10 students, you can come as a walk up field trip!
