Enjoy an exclusive after-hours Experience Event from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., exit by 9 p.m. where you can meet Zoo keepers and animals, plus enjoy themed entertainment and special treats and offers – the ULTIMATE Zoo experience! You may choose from one (1) of several event dates held each spring and summer. This year, we are also pleased to offer our Experience members the ability to choose between two exciting themes.

Don’t just learn about Islands this summer – experience it at your Louisville Zoo!
Stroll through the world’s first multi-species rotational Islands exhibit and complete a fun scavenger hunt for a chance to win a Backstage Pass Experience! Speak to keepers and learn about the innovative Islands exhibit features, then watch a live performance by a traditional Balinese musical ensemble. Then, explore the HerpAquarium to catch a glimpse of amphibians, reptiles and bats. Enjoy discounted face painting and henna tattoos provided by Kaman’s Art Shoppe. Feeling hungry? Grab a $3 hot dog, $2 chips and $2 soft drinks. Munch on some FREE popcorn and enjoy one of our other discounted menu options at the Lakeside Smokehouse, right next to our Adventure Ropes Course; discounted Ropes Course tickets will be available. Experience the power of Africa! Meet the keepers who care for the incredible animals in our Africa zone, including new arrivals like pygmy hippo Zemora and our Hartmann’s Mountain zebra filly. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Africa, including live entertainment by the Imani Drum & Dance Company, then complete a fun scavenger hunt for a chance to win a Backstage Pass Experience! Be sure to take advantage of photo opportunities with animal mascots, unlimited carousel rides and sand art provided by our Volunteer Youth Board, plus discounted face painting and henna tattoos provided by Kaman’s Art Shoppe.
Feeling hungry? Please enjoy a limited menu with special discounts for the night; grab a $10 pizza, $7 Cheeseburger or $6 Veggie Burger, $3 hot dog, $2 fries and $2 soft drinks along the way. Cool off with $3.50 regular ICEEs, $4 dole whip/vanilla cup or $6.50 dole whip/vanilla cone. Munch on some FREE popcorn or use your member discount to get a regular menu item. You are invited to attend one (1) Experience Event as a group during the period of your active membership (traditionally twelve months).
- Only those covered on your membership may attend.
- One-time-use passes are not redeemable for these events.
- Each year you may choose to attend one (1) event from at least 3 dates (May through September).
- Email address required for correspondence and RSVP.
- RSVPs are required. Email reminders will be sent.
- There are no rain dates for these events.
- No refunds, exchanges or transfers.
