Wild Lights: Asian Lantern Festival Presented by T-Mobile

See the Zoo in a whole new light at the largest lantern display in the region!

More than 2,000 intricate lanterns displayed in 65 larger-than-life scenes will illuminate the Zoo this spring. Join us on a fantastical journey along our 1.4 mile trail alongside favorites like a 130-foot-long dragon, walk-­through shark tunnel, fairy forest and more! Interactive displays let you become part of the magic as you leap from lily pad to lily pad, glide through the air on our amazing swings that change color as your soar and pose with our wondrous glowing wings.

Wild Lights at the Louisville Zoo offers more than just lanterns. Stop by our entertainment stage to take a break from the trail and view traditional Chinese performances live 3 times each night. Embark on a culinary adventure with us as you enjoy specialty food and drink items offered throughout the Zoo. Visit artisans for handcrafted goods representing years of Chinese culture, some crafted just for you right before your eyes. Wild Lights is sure to be an unforgettable experience for guests of all ages!

On the recommendation of the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness regarding congregate events and social distancing, the Asia Institute Crane House will not be appearing at the Wild Lights festival on this evening. We hope to reschedule the event for a future date.

Asia Institute Crane House along with University of Louisville Arts and Sciences, and Confucius Institute of Western Kentucky would like to invite you to share the spring festival season on March 29 with Traditional LION Dancers at 6:30 p.m., Chinese Calligraphy and Origami at the Zoo entrance. Please join us at the Spring Lantern Festival at the Louisville Zoo!

AICH will be hosting from now till the end of the Lantern festival the following events:

Saturday, Feb. 29 9 p.m. – midnight
Leap Year Party geared toward the Young Professional.  Karaoke sponsored by NoraeBar drinks, snacks, entertainment.

Saturday, March 14 Asian Spring Gala
Lanterns and Cherry Blossoms at the Mellwood Arts Center, featuring performances and James Beard recognized Chefs.

Thursday, March 19
“The Silk Road Saga” – Illustrated Talk by Robert Jones.

Thursday, April 9
Making Bao (Chinese Pork BBQ Buns) and Chinese Soup – Cooking Class

Sunday, April 19 (at Yew Dell Gardens)
“Pavilions, Ponds, and Poetry” A garden talk by Dr. Delin Lai with University of Louisville’s Asian Studies Program.
