FREE TO REGISTER! Connect with the Zoo  as we critically explore a variety of environmental and conservation issues. Participants will receive a discussion guide (including book, film, and podcast recommendations!) and access to a 60-minute live virtual discussion with Zoo educators. Join in on the discussion as we engage community members of all ages about conservation topics that are affecting the way we live in Louisville and how people live around the globe. Some sessions will feature guest speakers. View previous discussion guides here.

Topic: Looking Forward (Virtual Meeting)
Tuesday, Dec. 27; 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Join us as we explore current events in nature conservation! To wrap up 2022, we’ll be using the book Beloved Beasts: Fighting for Life in an Age of Extinction by Michelle Nijhuis to springboard into a discussion about conservation news from this year as well as what we hope to see in the field moving forward.

Author Michelle Nijhuis will be joining our virtual chat as a guest speaker!

Nijuis’s book walks the reader through the modern conservation movement, highlighting the contributions of notable figures and little-known contributors alike while exploring challenges like climate change, settler colonialism and more. Reading of the book is encouraged but not required to participate!
