Louisville Zoo’s cherished western lowland gorilla, 27-year-old male, Cecil, is preparing for an inspiring new chapter. Soon, he’ll be traveling to the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, where he’s been chosen by the Gorilla Species Survival Plan to lead his very own troop—thanks to his remarkable lineage and strong potential as a future silverback leader.

To honor Cecil’s upcoming move and the bright future ahead, we’re inviting you to a special celebration on July 12. It’s a chance to learn more about gorilla conservation efforts and join the entire Zoo family in sending Cecil off with love and support.

What to Expect:
