Join the Louisville Zoo staff as we celebrate Arctic Sea Ice Awareness Days. This event serves to bring awareness to challenges polar bears face and the importance of protecting their sea ice habitat.

Adventure down to Glacier Run to meet Qannik the rescued polar bear. Learn about polar bears and the challenges they face during our daily keeper talks.

July 12 – 14 : Education Stations

11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Volunteer educators will be on grounds with coloring pages and animal biofacts (On Sunday, July 14, the education stations will only be available from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.), ready to answer your questions about polar bears and their vanishing habitats.

Help Spread Awareness

You can also help spread awareness about arctic sea ice by participating in our Flat Nanuk activity. Flat Nanuk is a polar bear who loves to travel and meet people. Download him here or pick up a coloring sheet from an education station in Glacier Run! Color him in, cut him out, and add a message to his sign like “Save polar bears!” or  whatever you decide. Then, take a photo of yourself with Flat Nanuk in a favorite place — like the Zoo!  Don’t forget to share your photo on social media and tag #louisvillezoo and #polarbearsinternational.

For more information about how you can help polar bears, visit our partner Polar Bears International.
