Safari Day Camps — Summer

Get ready for another exciting summer filled with all new camp options, one-of-a-kind experiences and hands-on adventures! Campers will enjoy a wide range of exciting camp topics for every grade level, like Camp Discovery, Zoo Mazing Race, Backstage Pass and Vet Camp.

All Safari Day Camps include Zoo walks, animal presentations, attraction rides, and up-close encounters with Zoo ambassador animals. Plus, extended hours and convenient car line drop-off service makes Safari Day Camp a perfect choice for kids and parents! Campers can attend camp for the grade they have completed OR the grade they will be entering in the fall. All programs are week long; parents should provide a lunch and snack for their child each day. See you this summer!

If you’re new to camps or if you just want more Safari Day Camp fun, then this is the camp for you! We’ll be previewing our favorite camps for the summer during our first summer camp preview week! Each day campers will participate in activities, keeper talks, and will visit Zoo attractions. Activities will change daily, and camps may be purchased by day or by week.

Backstage Pass

Become a VIP this week! Campers will learn about the design of zoos as they get a behind-the-scenes look at some of our exhibits. Each day campers will go on behind-the-scenes tours of the Zoo and get exclusive access to areas that are not available to general visitors.

Vet Camp
June 22 – 26 OR July 13 – 17 OR August 3 – 7
Discover the ins and outs of animal health and learn how our Zoo doctors and keepers take care of our animals every day. This camp includes exclusive tours of the Animal Hospital, Commissary, and Black-Footed Ferret Conservation Center along with visits from our veterinary staff.

  1. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and programs fill quickly. Pre-registration is required for all classes.
  2. Only credit card payments accepted.
  3. Confirmations are automatically emailed. Be sure the email in your e-ticket store profile is correct.
  4. Registrations will not be taken over the phone.
  • Individuals who wish to cancel their registration for any class must notify the Education Department in writing no less than two weeks prior to the actual date of the program. We will refund 80% of the class fee upon receipt of a written or email (zooeducation@louisvilleky.gov) cancellation request.
  • There will be no refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to date.
  • The Education Department reserves the right to cancel programs with insufficient registration.  You will be notified by email if a program is cancelled.
