Beautiful sculptures of a lion pride have been installed in the African Safari area at the Louisville Zoo and were unveiled to the public today. The sculptures are made from bronze and feature a single lioness, a lioness with four cubs and a large male lion. The sculptures range from eight to nine feet long and weight between 200 and 300 pounds.

Sculptor Tom Tischler created the approachable art. Tischler has been creating bronze sculptures for 28 years. He is also the artist behind the bronze Komodo dragon sculpture located in the Islands, which is a popular photo spot in the Zoo.

The interactive sculpture garden is located next to the zebra yard and near the African Outpost. It is a shady oasis with benches, allowing families to rest while enjoying the sculptures. This new addition to the Zoo was generously funded by Stephen and Mary Birch Foundation, Inc.
