Gorilla Infant Kindi

Born: Monday, March 14, 2016 at 12:35 p.m.
Mother: Mia Moja
Father: Mshindi
Exhibit: Gorilla Forest
Notes: A female gorilla baby was born via emergency cesarean section to 27 year-old gorilla Mia Moja at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, March 14.  Sadly, Mia Moja passed away a little after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15 from complications. A full necropsy will be performed on Mia to determine the cause of death.  Learn more

Babirusa Babs

Father: Albus
Exhibit: Islands
Notes: “Babs”, a North Sulawesi babirusa piglet was born Sept. 26, 2015 to dam (mother) Patrice and sire (dad) Albus, each six years-old. Babirusas are listed as a vulnerable species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.

Zebra  Annette

Mother: Morena
Father: Gibbs
Exhibit: Africa
Notes: “Annette”, a female Hartmann’s mountain zebra was born this past May and was not on exhibit due to construction in the area. She was born to dam (mother) Morena and sire (dad) Gibbs on May 29, 2015. Hartmann’s mountain zebras are listed as a vulnerable species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
