AMUR TIGER WEBCAM

What You’re Watching

Viktoria and her three cubs, Mira, Masha and Frankie, are beginning to explore their outdoor habitat and learn new routines with their Zoo keepers.

Lucky guests may catch a glimpse of the cats during their visit, but at this time there is no set schedule for public viewing. As Viktoria and the cubs continue to acclimate and become comfortable in their new environment, we’ll share more updates along the way.

The habitat featured on this camera may include views of Viktoria, the cubs, or their father, Timmy, as the tigers continue to explore and use different areas throughout the day.

Thank you for your patience as the cubs take these important steps at their own pace!

Be sure to check back often for updates as the cubs continue to grow and reach new milestones.

  • The largest cats on Earth — male Amur tigers can weigh between 400 and 600 pounds.
  • Built for cold weather — they have thick fur and a layer of body fat that helps them survive harsh winters.
  • Every tiger is unique — no two tigers have the same stripe pattern.
  • Excellent swimmers — unlike many cats, tigers readily enter the water and enjoy cooling off in pools and streams.
  • Powerful hunters — a tiger can leap more than 20 feet in a single bound.
  • Mostly solitary — adult tigers generally live and hunt alone except when raising cubs.
  • Big voices — a tiger’s roar can be heard up to two miles away.
  • Endangered in the wild — Amur tigers are found primarily in eastern Russia and northeastern China.
  • Patient mothers — tiger cubs stay with their mother for up to two years while learning survival skills.
  • Conservation success story — careful management and conservation efforts have helped stabilize wild populations.

Amur Tiger Conservation

Amur tigers are among the world’s most endangered big cats. Through participation in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan, the Louisville Zoo helps support a healthy, genetically diverse population while inspiring guests to protect wildlife and wild places around the globe. The birth of Viktoria’s cubs is an important contribution to these conservation efforts and helps raise awareness about the challenges facing Amur tigers in the wild.

🐅 Hope for the Future
Our three precious cubs represent hope for the future of this endangered species. With fewer than 750 Amur tigers estimated to remain in the wild, every cub plays an important role in helping secure a future for the species.
