Meet The Colobus Monkeys

Say hello to our four amazing Colobus Monkeys! These striking primates, known for their beautiful black-and-white coats and graceful movements, bring unique personalities and histories to our sanctuary. Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Nali, Ate’, and Phyllis each have their own special story, and together they form a dynamic and delightful group. They are proud residents of the Africa Zone, where visitors can learn about their unique traits and watch them thrive in their carefully designed habitat. Whether it’s Sheldon, named after a famous TV character, or the close-knit trio of Nali and her daughters Ate’ and Phyllis, this family is sure to captivate visitors of all ages

Colobus Monkeys

Dr. Sheldon Cooper

Dr. Sheldon Cooper, named after the Big Bang Theory character, came to us from the Columbus Zoo in Columbus, Ohio, on January 22, 2019. His birthdate is estimated to be between September 28 and October 8, 2012, so we celebrate it on October 3.

Nali

Nali joined us on July 27, 2023, from the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, Illinois. She was born on September 3, 2014, and is the mother of Ate’ and Phyllis.

Ate’

Ate’, the daughter of Nali, also arrived from the Lincoln Park Zoo on July 27, 2023. She was born on January 19, 2020.

Phyllis

Phyllis, Nali’s youngest daughter and full sister to Ate’, came with her family on July 27, 2023, from the Lincoln Park Zoo. She was born on June 1, 2021.
