Trashformation: A Trash-to-Treasure Art Contest

The Louisville Zoo and the LG&E and KU Foundation invited students from preschool through 12th grade to participate in our ninth annual recycled art contest as part of Party for the Planet: A Month-Long Celebration of the Earth powered by the LG&E and KU Foundation. This unique event encourages students to communicate the importance of recycling and sustainability through art. Using only recycled items, students will make an art project that reflects, interprets or depicts Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.

We once again partnered with the Louisville Orchestra’s MakingMUSIC Landfill Orchestra program. We encouraged students to create a musical instrument out of recycled materials. The Louisville Orchestra has some ideas for musical instruments on their website at LouisvilleOrchestra.org/landfill-orchestra.

Registration for 2021 is now closed.
