Are we able to enjoy the Zoo during our event?

During daytime events, guests will have access to all of the exhibits at the Zoo. For evening events, guests will have the opportunity for access to one exhibit during your cocktail hour (sundown dependent). Evening Zoo buy outs will allow guests to access multiple or all exhibits based on guest count (sundown dependent).

What time parameters can I host my event between?

Daytime Events
These events typically last 2 hours, with access to the Zoo during our normal operating hours for that day.

Evening Events
These events can last for 2 – 5 hours, with access to specified areas of the Zoo

March – October: Start no earlier than 6 p.m. (stay until 10 p.m.)
November – February: Start no earlier than 4 p.m. (stay until 9 p.m.)

Does the Louisville Zoo have exclusive catering?

Yes, The SSA Group caters all private events at the Louisville Zoo. Outside food and beverage is NOT allowed.

Does the zoo have a liquor license?

Yes, The SSA Group is the only entity that may serve/provide alcohol on property.

What equipment/items are included in my rental?

In-house tables, chairs, disposable dinnerware and flatware are included in the cost of your rental. China, glassware, flatware, linens and any other rentals are additional cost.

Does the Zoo have AV equipment?

The Zoo has a limited amount of AV equipment that is available on a first come, first serve basis. We can work with you on any rental equipment that you may need.

What happens if it rains/snows on the day of my event?

Our events are held rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather circumstances (i.e., blizzard, hurricane, tornado, etc.), arrangements to reschedule will be made.

Are there any prohibited items at the Zoo?

Balloons, confetti, glitter, bouncy houses, tiki torches, balls, bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, animals (except service animals), scooters, straws, and glass bottles. Are NOT allowed.

How do I get to the Louisville Zoo?

All guests should be directed to 1100 Trevilian Way for entrance to the Zoo. Delivery directions may be requested and will be sent based on the location of the event.

Do my guests have to pay for parking?

Parking is included in your daytime facility fee. There is no additional charge for evening event parking. The Zoo does not provide a valet service.

I have attendees that have difficulty walking. Is transportation available once inside the Zoo for these attendees?

The Zoo has transportation available for attendees who are handicapable. Please note that if transportation is requested for all attendees, there will be fees associated with that service.

Do you require Certificates of Insurance (COI)?

The client is required to provide a Certificate of Insurance to cover general liabilities that may occur during any private event on Zoo property. If you will be delivering anything via vehicle to the Zoo, you MUST also include auto liability coverage as part of your COI. If you do not provide this coverage, deliveries must be walked in from the parking lot.
